Death to Life: Pt 3 - Letting Go of Yesterday's Vision

Apr 19, 2026    Mark Gentry

This powerful message challenges us to examine whether we're holding too tightly to yesterday's victories while missing today's opportunities. Drawing from the story of King Hezekiah, who boldly destroyed the bronze serpent Moses had made, we're reminded that even sacred objects from past moves of God can become idols when they prevent us from moving forward. The central truth is profound: faithfulness to yesterday's vision cannot replace obedience to where God is leading us today. We learn that attachment—holding so tightly to what God did before—often becomes our greatest obstacle to embracing what God is doing now. The message beautifully illustrates how God remains consistent in His character but is remarkably creative in His strategies. Just as the Israelites had to walk around Jericho seven times in silence before the walls fell, God's methods change even when His mission remains the same. This teaching urges us to cultivate sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, enabling us to discern God's voice, avoid deception, and receive guidance aligned with both His vision and His Word. The question we must each answer is: What is God asking us to trust Him with? What are we clinging to that needs to be released so we can step into the greater vision He has for our future?
