What John Saw First
Join us this morning as we welcome special guest speaker Gina Anderson! She'll be bringing a message to us titled, "What John Saw First"!
What does it look like to truly trust that God is in control, even when life feels dark and uncertain? This message takes us deep into the book of Revelation, a book written not to frighten us but to anchor us. Before John is shown any of the conflict and chaos that unfolds in Revelation, God first gives him a vision of a throne, occupied, steady, and surrounded by unceasing worship. That sequence is not accidental. It is a divine reminder that before we face what is coming, we need to see who is already there. Drawing from both Revelation 4 and Isaiah 6, we see that across centuries and vastly different circumstances, the throne has never been empty. Isaiah saw it in a moment of national grief when a long-reigning king died and the future felt unstable. John saw it while exiled and alone. And yet in both cases, heaven was not in crisis. Heaven was worshiping. That contrast is meant to reframe how we see our own struggles. The elders casting their crowns before the throne were not worshiping because everything on earth was fine. They were worshiping because they clearly understood who was seated on that throne. This message challenges us to ask whether our worship and our peace are conditional on our circumstances, or whether they are rooted in something far more unshakeable.
