"What does it truly mean to live an unshakeable life in a world that feels like it is constantly shifting beneath our feet? Romans 8 opens with one of the most breathtaking declarations in all of Scripture -- that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. That single truth has the power to reframe everything. This message takes us back to the very beginning, to the Garden of Eden and the two trees that represented two fundamentally different ways of living. The tree of life points us toward rest, trust, and dependence on God. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil points us toward self-reliance, where we appoint ourselves as the authority over our own lives. The sobering reality is that we face that same choice every single day. When we choose to lead our own lives, we enter a cycle of pride, failure, shame, and condemnation that leaves us exhausted and stuck. But Romans 8 offers a way out -- not through greater effort or religious performance, but through surrendering to Jesus and letting him go first in every area of our lives. Real life, the kind Jesus described in John 10:10 as abundant, is not something we manufacture. It is something we receive."
