Focal Point: Pt 2 - 5-Day Devotional: Jesus Forgives - Day 4

Day 4: The Father Who Runs

Reading: Luke 15:11-24

Devotional: The prodigal son expected rejection. He rehearsed his apology speech, hoping to be accepted as a hired servant. But while he was still far off, the father saw him and ran. The father didn't wait for the apology; he didn't demand the son grovel or prove himself. Filled with compassion, he ran to embrace his wayward child. This is your Heavenly Father's heart toward you. You may have wasted what He gave you. You may have wished Him dead through your actions. You may feel unworthy to be called His child. But He sees you from far off. He's watching for your return. And when you turn toward home, He runs to you with arms wide open. You don't have to clean yourself up first. Come as you are—broken, ashamed, empty-handed. He's already running toward you.

Reflection Question: What keeps you from believing God runs toward you rather than waiting for you to earn His acceptance?
