A Summer To Remember: Before You Lead - Day 3

Day 3: Abiding in the Word, Becoming His Disciple

Reading: John 8:31-32

Devotional: Jesus drew a direct line between abiding in His Word and being His disciple. The word abide means to make something the permanent condition of your life. It is not a Sunday morning visit. It is a daily dwelling place. As Pastor Mark said, God's Word is not something we visit once a week. It becomes the place where we live. When the Word of God becomes your permanent residence, it shapes the way you think, the way you speak, and the way you treat others. Truth does not set you free simply because it exists. It sets you free because you know it and live it.

Reflection: Is your relationship with God's Word more like a visit or a residence? What does your daily life reveal about your answer?

Practical Application: Set aside a specific time today, even fifteen minutes, to read Scripture slowly and prayerfully. Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate one truth from the passage that applies directly to your life right now.
