A Summer To Remember: The Cup of Sanctification - Day 3

Day 3: Surrendering the Knife

Reading: Mark 8:34-37; Romans 6:16-19

Devotional: Like a toddler clutching a dangerous knife, we often cling to things that harm us, declaring "mine!" God doesn't want to rip these things from our hands—that would wound us. Instead, He offers something better, waiting for us to willingly open our hands in surrender. Surrender isn't defeat; it's the pathway to freedom. When you offer yourself as a slave to righteousness rather than sin, you're not losing freedom—you're gaining it. You become a slave by choice to the One who chose to die for you. What are you holding onto that God is asking you to release? What "cookies" is He offering in exchange for the "knife" that's cutting you? True surrender means trusting that God's plans are better than yours, His ways higher, His love unfailing.
