This Changes Everything: Praise & Worship - Day 4

Day 4: His Presence Changes Your Person

Reading: 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 — The truth that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom, and that believers are being transformed from one degree of glory to another as they behold the glory of God.

Devotional:

The sermon draws a simple but profound conclusion from this passage: the more time you spend looking at Jesus, the more you begin to look like Jesus. Transformation is not primarily the result of discipline, willpower, or religious effort. It is the natural outcome of sustained proximity to the presence of God. Romans 12:1 calls believers to present themselves as living sacrifices — not dead offerings with no choice, but living ones who make the daily decision to stay on the altar. The challenge is that living sacrifices can crawl off. We surrender on Sunday and reclaim control on Monday. Worship, then, is not a weekly event. It is a daily posture of surrender that says, "God, all of me belongs to all of you."

Personal Reflection: In what area of your life have you recently crawled off the altar? What would it mean to climb back up today and release that area to God's control?

Practical Application: Pray Romans 12:1 back to God in your own words. Name the specific areas of your life — your relationships, your finances, your ambitions, your fears — and lay each one before him as an act of living sacrifice.
