What John Saw First: Day 4

Reading: Hebrews 12:1-2

Devotional: The writer of Hebrews calls us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith. He endured the cross because of the joy set before Him, and that joy was you. He then sat down at the right hand of the throne of God, a posture that declares the battle is finished. There is a great cloud of witnesses who have already run this race through seasons of suffering, confusion, and loss. You are not the first to face darkness, and you will not be the last. But the instruction remains the same in every generation: keep looking to Jesus. He has not moved.

Reflection: What has been stealing your gaze from Jesus lately? What weight or distraction has been pulling your focus away from the one seated on the throne?

Practical Application: Identify one specific distraction, worry, or preoccupation that has been consuming your attention. Intentionally surrender it in prayer today, and replace the mental space it occupies by meditating on the truth that Jesus is seated and victorious.
