A Summer To Remember: The Father's Gift - Day 1

Reading: Acts 1:4-8

Devotional: Jesus commanded His disciples to wait for "the gift the Father promised"—the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Notice that these were already saved followers, yet Jesus said they needed something more. Salvation is the foundation, but God offers additional empowerment for living the Christian life. Just as you couldn't save yourself by your own power, you cannot live victoriously without the Holy Spirit's power. You need God's help at home, at work, and everywhere you go. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is available to you today. Don't try to live on your own strength when heaven's power awaits.
