This Changes Everything: Praise & Worship - Day 1

Reading: Acts 2:1-21 — The account of the Holy Spirit's arrival at Pentecost, the sound like a rushing wind, the tongues of fire, and Peter's declaration that this fulfilled the prophecy of Joel about God pouring out his Spirit on all people.

Devotional:

We live in a world that wants to reduce the Holy Spirit to a feeling, an atmosphere, or an emotional experience. But the sermon reminds us plainly: the Holy Spirit is God. He is not a force to be harnessed or a mood to be manufactured. He is the Comforter, the Teacher, the Guide, and the Friend — and he desires relationship with you. The people gathered in Jerusalem on that Pentecost morning were not the same when they left as they were when they arrived. An encounter with the living God always produces change. The question is not whether the Holy Spirit is powerful. The question is whether you are in relationship with him. He is not distant. He is not silent. He is present, and he is personal.

Personal Reflection: When was the last time you approached the Holy Spirit not as an experience to seek, but as a person to know? What would it look like to cultivate a daily relationship with him the way you would cultivate a friendship?

Practical Application: Set aside ten minutes today in silence. Do not bring a list of requests. Simply acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit and invite him to speak. Write down anything that stirs in your heart during that time.
