Day 2: Your Past Is Canceled - Unshakable: Real Hope

Reading: Romans 8:1-2

Devotional: Romans 8:1-2 declares that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of life has set believers free from the law of sin and death. In ancient Rome, when a child was adopted into a wealthy family, every debt they owed was completely wiped away. Their criminal record, their poverty, their shame -- all of it vanished the moment the father chose them. This is exactly what God has done for you. He did not adopt you despite your past. He adopted you knowing every detail of it. Your past does not define you. His love does.

Reflection: Is there a specific failure, sin, or season of your life that you have allowed to become part of your identity? Ask God today to help you see that moment through the lens of his grace rather than through the lens of shame.

Practical Application: Find a piece of paper and write down the thing from your past that most often holds you back. Then tear it up as a physical act of faith, declaring that your past is canceled by the blood of Jesus.
