Day 3: A Father Who Runs - Unshakable: Real Hope

Reading: Luke 15:11-24

Devotional: In the culture of Jesus' day, it was considered undignified and shameful for a patriarch to run in public. Yet the father in this parable saw his returning son from a great distance and ran to him anyway. He was not concerned with his own reputation. He was consumed with love for his child. This is the picture Jesus gives us of our heavenly Father. God does not wait for you to clean yourself up before he comes to you. He runs toward you in the middle of your mess, wraps his arms around you, and calls for a celebration. That is who your Father is.

Reflection: Have you been waiting until you feel worthy enough to come to God? What would it look like to simply turn toward him today, trusting that he is already running toward you?

Practical Application: Spend five minutes in prayer using the word "Dad" or "Abba" when you address God. Allow that intimacy to shift how you relate to him throughout the rest of your day.
