Devotional: Elijah did not pray with confidence because he was bold by nature. He prayed with confidence because God had spoken to him first. Faith is not manufactured through willpower or positive thinking. It is awakened by hearing the word of God. The Bible is not a historical document that once carried life. It carries life right now, today, in your hands. When you read it, the Holy Spirit speaks through it into your present circumstances. The word of God is alive and active, and it meets you exactly where you are. You cannot grow in faith while staying distant from Scripture.
