Day 1: God Wants to Reveal Himself to You: Alien Encounters

Day 1: God Wants to Reveal Himself to You

Reading: Exodus 33:7-11; 2 Corinthians 3:16-18

Devotional:
The idea that the God of the universe would speak to a person face to face, the way a friend speaks to a friend, is not a distant Old Testament promise reserved for spiritual giants. It is the inheritance of every believer. Moses was not extraordinary because of his own greatness. He was extraordinary because he kept showing up to meet with God. The passage in 2 Corinthians makes clear that this kind of intimacy is available to all of us. When we turn toward God, he removes every barrier between us and his presence. His glory does not stay locked inside a building or confined to a Sunday morning. It fills the earth. That means wherever you are right now — in a quiet room, on a lunch break, in the middle of a hard season — God is present and he is speaking. The question is not whether God wants to reveal himself to you. He does. The question is whether you are willing to slow down, turn toward him, and listen. Start today by simply telling God you want to know him, not just know about him. That single act of turning is the beginning of everything.

Reflection Questions:
  • Do you approach God as someone distant and formal, or as a living, personal presence?
  • What habits or distractions make it difficult for you to hear from God?
  • What would it look like for you to carve out 15 to 20 minutes each day to pursue him through his Word?

Practical Application: Download or print a Bible reading plan today and commit to reading a portion of Scripture every morning this week before you look at your phone. Pray one simple sentence before you begin: "Holy Spirit, help me hear what you want to say."
