Unshakable: Real Life - Day 5

Day 5: Unshakeable -- Living by the Spirit in an Unsteady World

Reading: Romans 8:5-11; Philippians 4:6-7

Devotional:
The world around us will not grow more stable. Wars, uncertainty, rising pressures, and moral confusion are not surprises to God -- they are prophesied realities. But God's people are not called to be shaken by what shakes the world. We are called to be unshakeable because we are rooted in what is eternal. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. That is not a poetic sentiment. That is a declaration of supernatural power available to every believer. The peace that Philippians 4 describes passes human understanding precisely because it does not depend on human circumstances. It depends on Him.

Reflection Questions:
  • What current circumstance in your life is most threatening your sense of peace and stability?
  • Are you drawing on God's strength in that situation, or still attempting to manage it through your own effort?

Practical Application: Read Romans 8 in its entirety today. As you read, underline every phrase that speaks directly to who you are in Christ. By the end of the week, let this chapter become more familiar to you than your fears. Return to it whenever the world feels unsteady, and let it remind you of what is unshakeable
