Tis The Season: Pt 2 - Day 4

Day 4: Recognizing the Shepherd's Voice

Reading: John 10:1-15, 27-28

Devotional: Sheep don't follow strangers because they know their shepherd's voice intimately. This knowing comes from spending time together, from daily relationship. Jesus promises His sheep hear His voice and follow Him. But how do we distinguish His voice from the noise of culture, the enemy's lies, or our own anxious thoughts? The answer is relationship. The more time you spend in God's Word and His presence, the more naturally you'll recognize when something isn't from Him. God will never tell you to do something that contradicts His written Word. His voice brings peace, even when calling you to hard things. The stranger's voice brings confusion and fear. You don't need to study every counterfeit; just know the real thing so well that the fake is obvious.

Reflection: Can you identify a time when you knew it was God speaking? What made His voice recognizable to you?
